State Trooper Asks People to Continue Donating Blood
A 30 year old state trooper though he had a cold. During routine exercises with his patrol dog, he noticed it was more difficult than usual to catch his breath. On his way home from work that day, he stopped to help a driver push his broken down car out of the way of traffic and almost collapsed.
After several tests, the canine officer was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and began treatment to battle the disease. During 30 rounds of chemotherapy and an eventual bone marrow transplant, the trooper received about 25 transfusions of blood and blood products.
"People are always asking me what they can do to help. I tell them I'm doing well, but the one thing they can do for me is donate blood so it will be there for people when they need it, just like it was there for me."
