Angela's Story
Angela Reda
A Mother's Story

Kimberly Reda and her daughter Angela on Angel's 18th birthday!

Kimberly Reda is a medical assistant at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nashua and relates this story about her daughter, Angela—a junior at Nashua High School North.

Kim says, “ I have always wanted to be able to write a thank you note to all of the people who took the time out of their day to give blood. They did this wonderful thing and then went on with their lives. I just want them all to know that this effort of theirs saved my daughter’s life, many, many times.”

My daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was 22-months-old. She ended up suffering mostly because of the chemotherapy which left her blood counts very low. At some points, they had to stop the chemo which could potentially lead to the leukemia coming back. This was a ongoing battle for two years.

There is not one particular person that I want to thank but many who took the time to donate blood helped save my daughter's life more than once. I will never know who these people are but would love for everyone to know that by donating you will go on with your day but you truly are saving lives. My daughter is now a beautiful 17-year-old, thanks to all who donated.

Red Cross blood donors help patients like Angela in cities and towns throughout New England and across the United States. Please….give blood. Together, we can save a life.
