Where Tradition and the New Millennium Meet

Marjorie's Story
Myelodysplasia

Marjorie

Within just a few minutes of talking with Marjorie Tuttle you can see the spark and enthusiasm that must have first attracted Bernard, her husband of 14 years.

“We met on a blind date,” he explains with a bit of a twinkle in his eye. “At the Elks Club for dinner and dancing.”

Marjorie and Bernard have been enjoying life together ever since, thanks to the American Red Cross.

“I’ve been coming to Saint Vincent Hospital to get blood a long time,” Marjorie explains. “But I started getting regular blood transfusions for myelodysplasia back in 2005--after a bone marrow test. I don’t know what I’d do without the Red Cross. They’ve been keeping me going . . ..”

Together Marjorie and Bernard have traveled to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and even Hawaii. But they do stay home occasionally, Marjorie confesses. “I am an avid cook,” she says.

Marjorie is also an avid fan of her grandson in New York. “He goes to give blood regularly,” she notes with pride. "He’s definitely someone who can truly understand how donating blood saves lives."

Red Cross blood donors help patients just like Marjorie in cities and towns throughout New England and across the United States. Please….give blood.
