Brendan's Story
Leukemia
Brendan Shea works for Life Scan, a division of Johnson & Johnson Company. Brendan is here today, at 25 years of age, thanks to life-saving volunteer blood donors.
Brendan grew up in New Hampshire but has lived in Maine for the last 3 years. At 13 years of age, Brendan received a
back injury at camp that he just couldn’t seem to recover from. His family took him to the doctor where he was diagnosed with life-threatening leukemia. He was in the hospital a total of 128 days during his first year of treatment.
Brendan comes from a family of long time blood donors and is no stranger to the need of blood donations.
“ Blood donors have given me 12 extra years to my life so far. It is so easy to take a life but so hard to do something so small as donating blood to save a life.”
Brendan resides in Penobscot Country and travels the state as a Professional Sales Specialist, specializing in Diabetes.
Red Cross blood donors help patients just like Brendan in cities and towns throughout New England and across the United States. Please….give blood.
