Ron's Story
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Ronald Boyd, a Peabody resident, husband of Jodi and father of Isabella, Gianna, Jacob, and step-father of Michael Vinagro was diagnosed on Christmas Day with TTP () - a rare, life-threatening, disorder of the blood coagulation system. He was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
Plasmapheresis (exchange transfusion involving removal of the patient’s blood plasma through aphaeresis and replaced with donor plasma), has to be repeated daily to eliminate the inhibitor and ablate the systems. Ron has had to undergo transfusions every day since Christmas.
A blood drive in Ron's honor was recently held at the Red Cross North Shore Donor Center in Danvers, Massachusetts.
Ron, Jodi and their children would like to thank their families, friends and co-workers for all their support during this time.
Red Cross blood donors help patients just like Ron in cities and towns throughout New England and across the United States. Please….give blood.
