First Time Donor Shares Her Thoughts

Jane, first time donor, is an employee of Mercy Hospital!

I have never given blood before and decided to this time for two reasons:

My daughter, who is 18, has given and has been encouraging me to donate and not be such a "chicken".
I also gave in memory of a 13 year old boy, a good friend to my children who lost his life to lymphoma last year. He required many transfusions and endured a lot.

Donating was actually very easy and uneventful. Now my daughter and I can go together to donate in the future. When I called and told her that I had donated she was very proud and happy for me and was looking forward to the time we can go together .

It felt good knowing that for a short commitment of my time I may be touching the lives of many.
