Guidelines For Use
Who Can Use The Donor Coach?
- This bus is a self-contained bloodmobile.
- It is available to any group with at least 25 individual pledges to donate.
- It provides a convenient donation opportunity for locations that do not have adequate indoor space.
- It can be scheduled for a corporate sponsor group or may be scheduled for the public.
What Are The Site Requirements For the Bus?
- A parking area of 40 x 60 feet or 5 to 6 car spaces is needed. The bus is 37 feet long.
- Parking area must be fairly level and as close to the building as possible.
- Restroom must be nearby. The bus does not have running water or bathroom facilities.
- The bus must not be parked in a fire lane or handicapped parking.
- Available space is needed inside the building for donor waiting and registration.
- An area should be available for staff breaks and lunches.
What does The Sponsor Need To Provide?
- A blood drive coordinator
- Coordinator needs to recruit and schedule the volunteer blood donors and work closely with a representative from the Red Cross.
- Due to limited space on the bus, scheduling of donors is of the utmost importance.
- Coordinator must be available on the day of the blood drive.
- If possible, the sponsor should provide registration volunteers.
What Does The Blood Center Provide?
- All recruitment materials, such as posters, flyers, payroll stuffers and appointment schedules.
- Ideas and suggestions which have proven successful.
- All equipment and refreshments.
