Where Tradition and the New Millennium Meet

Manchester High School West NJROTC Blood Drive
April 16, 2008

Manchester West High School NJROTC

Members of the Manchester High School West NJROTC all have smiles on their faces over the success in their recent blood drive.

On Wednesday April 16, 2008, the Manchester High School West Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) unit held a blood drive at the school. The blood drive was hosted by Cadets in the school’s gymnasium and lasted the entire school day. 161 students and faculty attended the drive and the total donation made to the Red Cross far exceeded the unit’s goal of 100 pints of blood. After giving blood, the NJROTC provided the donors with food donated from community businesses. As an added thank you, donors received a tee-shirt created by a group of students at the school.

“The American Red Cross would like to thank Battalion Commanding officer C/CDR Daniel Kramer and the NJROTC unit who dedicated much of their time and effort into organizing and executing the blood drive," said Carolyn McNamara, Representative for the American Red Cross, adding, “High school blood donors are very important in meeting the demand for blood in our community, and in order to grow a donor base to support all of our blood needs in the future.”

This event helped the unit take one large step towards reaching its annual commitment of 6000 community service hours for the 2007-08 school year! Thank you, Manchester High School West NJROTC.
