September Is National Preparedness Month
Red Cross Recommends Five Action Steps
For more than 100 years, the American Red Cross has helped people prepare for emergencies. The Red Cross continues with this mission today as we face a changing America, full of unique challenges.
Being ready requires that individuals, families, neighbors, schools and communities take responsibility for developing and implementing preparedness plans. The Red Cross offers a full menu of training opportunities to help you improve your safety.
The American Red Cross is challenging every individual and organization in our community to take five actions to make us all safer from disaster:
- Make A Plan
- Build A Kit
- Get Trained
- Volunteer
- Give Blood
We believe that, by taking these five actions, our community membes will know what to do in the event of an emergency.
There's no better time to prepare for a potential emergency than right now. You can download a printer friendly Preparedness Brochure here. More information is available. Contact your local Red Cross chapter for lifesaving information, training and volunteer opportunities. To schedule an appointment to give blood, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.
