The safety and adequacy of the blood supply is the Number One Priority of the American Red Cross. This section includes information about how the Red Cross is providing the safest possible blood supply for patients in need.

Please remember that a safe blood supply is a blood supply that is available for both emergency and routine needs. Without donors willing to give blood on a regular basis, a safe blood supply would not be possible.
